Michael Martin Murphey/Kyle Evans, Deadwood, SD

Michael Martin Murphey works hard to keep the spirit of the traditional "Old West" alive in music and pageantry. He is probably best known for his 70's hit "Wildfire," but he continues to put on music festivals and recreations of Buffalo Bill's Wild West shows. For years he presented several events called WestFest around the country.

Deadwood, South Dakota was home to a WestFest in 1995 and 1996, I believe.

Here's "Triple M" himself at the 1996 event:

And Kyle Evans, South Dakota's official Centennial Troubador, who was tragically killed in 2001 when his motorcycle collided with a deer.
