Slamabama/The Beerslingers, Fort Pierre, SD

Fort Pierre, South Dakota brought us a brand new music event this year. Or I should say several of them - the Bad River Music Series. On July 30-31, 2015, Central South Dakota was treated to Slamabama, The Outlaws, Blackhawk, The Beerslingers and Little Texas.

There is still one more upcoming show left in the 2015 series, with the Kentucky Headhunters playing at the Fort Pierre Rodeo Grounds on August 22. Check out the Bad River Music Series on Facebook here.

Opening the show the first night was Slamabama, a quartet that is as fun as their name is to say. A very friendly bunch who yes, are from Alabama, but have been appearing in this part of the country for a while now. Learn more about these guys at Slamabama.com.

Opening the second night's concert were The Beerslingers, a Rapid City-based group of ranch kids that know how to party. Lead guitarist Cody Hullinger can really pick and I was completely impressed when Casey Morgan replaced a broken guitar string in the middle of the song while still singing.

That wooden box Scott Sweet is sitting on is a percussion instrument known as a cajon. You learn something new every day.

Check out The Beerslingers at their Facebook page.

Next post - The Outlaws and Blackhawk.
