Cowboy Crush, Sioux Falls, SD

Sioux Falls Sidewalk Arts Festival, September 9, 2006 - It was about 40 degrees at this outdoor show and no one showed up. I'd guess the attendance at around 150 people if you included everyone working at the beer booth and the crews for the bands.

Cowboy Crush was just appearing on the national scene. To date, I've seen them appear on a couple TV events, but they don't seem to be making great strides in hitting it big. I know they did the National Anthem at the 2007 Daytona 500, so they've had some high-profile gigs, but just aren't catching on quickly.

Anyway, if you've never heard of them, think Dixie Chicks with a couple more "chicks." I didn't rush right out and buy a CD, but I was impressed that they were putting their all into the performance for such a small crowd.

Drummers often don't get photographed as much as they deserve, due to usually being at the back of the stage and hidden behind their kits. So every once in a while, I make a special point of trying to get a good shot. (Yes, it doesn't hurt if she looks like this.)

Hey, these girls have been watching early Van Halen videos!

I saw Cowboy Crush as an opening act last year at Wild Bill Days in Deadwood and they were awesome! Way better that the headline act.

I was there because of Kory and the Fireflies. I was with my sister and we were right in front on Jason's side! (: It was cold - but seeing KFF was GREAT and I didn't mind the cold that much. We even stuck around a bit for Cowboy Crush.
